The Pink Unicorns Chronicle 9/7/17 Game 3
The Pink Unicorns hosted the Navy Seals of Little Miami at Landen Park 5 under beautiful conditions for soccer. The weather was cool, the sun was out, and a wizard/princess coach showed up. During warmups the coaches were overheard talking to each other and they noted that the other team looked fast. They told the boys to play their positions well, pass the ball, and for gosh sakes shot the ball away from the goalie.
They must have listened because the Unicorns rattled off 3 quick goals in the first quarter. Trey had 2 and Logan V 1. The defense looked marvelous and were getting the ball up to the offense very quickly. At the end of 1 it was 3-0.
In quarter number 2 the goal scoring did not stop. Burke scored twice, once from outside the penalty box. Pink then switched the line up and had offense play defense and defense play offense. The new offense continued to drive the ball down the field but could not get on across the goal line.
In quarter 3 the Unicorns continued with the learning of new positions. The new defense allowed a nice shot on goal that Burke stopped and Sebastian got off two nice breakaways. He had a beautiful shot in the first one that bounce off the goalie but we were unable to push it in on the rebound. Then Sebastian buried it in the corner on his 2nd one giving the Unicorns a 6-0 advantage.
Going into the 4th quarter the Pink Unicorns decided that they wanted to have the clean sheet. The Navy Seals attempted a sneak attack and got a player behind the defense. He had a breakaway attempt but the new goalie John Finn charged out and made a sliding deflection that went flying out of bounds. The Pink were held scoreless but Rob Stuart had some nice attempts from the left wing. Final score 6-0.
Coach Paul was asked after the game for comments. He said, "what more can I say. The players got to experience new positions and everyone had fun. Great game!" It was a great game and the Pink Unicorns are now 2-0-1 and the head coach has to add another Pink item to his outfit for the next game.
